Light-Stable Cast Elastomers
Most recently, polyurethane elastomers based on aliphatic (light-stable) chemistry have gained considerable interest. Originally, this more expensive polyurethane chemistry was used almost exclusively in coatings applications that require excellent light stability and weatherability. As in coatings, aliphatic polyurethane elastomers are used mainly in applications where light stability and optical clarity are important, such as laminates for safety and bulletproof glass. Further research and development is leading to new applications of light-stable polyurethane elastomers in more common products and applications for industry and even the consumer market.
