As is the case with solid Vulkollan®, cellular Vulkollan® is also produced in a casting process, using water as a blowing agent. The components are metered by casting machines. Cellular Vulkollan® complements solid Vulkollan® in applications where increased deformability and reduced compression hardness are required. Thus in day-to-day operations it is essentially the compressive deformation properties that are of relevance. This versatile material has been used for many years for auxiliary springs in the automotive sector. Using these springs made of cellular Vulkollan® for struts having progressive spring characteristics, space is gained and weight is reduced. In addition to solutions relating to spring technology, cellular Vulkollan® is increasingly used for sound insulation by decoupling vibrating components, i.e. vibration absorption. In many cases the extreme demands made by the automotive industry on the material properties of an auxiliary spring in a strut can be met by cellular Vulkollan® only.
Features:
Dynamic stress (even in permanent load tests with 5 million cycles permanent deformation is extremely low)
Reduced water absorption (guarantees smooth operation during fluctuating weather conditions)
Reduced differences in properties at different temperatures (-30 °C to +80 °C)
