Polyurethanes from BaySystems – all the ingredients for success
Polyurethanes are a living science. And BaySystems is the global network for research, development and production of polyurethane systems. True to the spirit of the inventor of polyurethanes, Prof. Otto Bayer, customizing our extensive range of polyurethane systems is part of our everyday business. After the discovery of polyurethanes it took several years before the material could be put to practical use. First, completely new processing technologies had to be developed. Initial applications had to be identified, and users needed to be convinced.
Some of the first polyurethane customers were innovative, design-oriented companies. So when in 1959/60 a world-renowned furniture company unveiled a polyurethane chair designed by Verner Panton, all reservations and skepticism over this new material vanished. Fast-growing demand could only be met by developing a wide variety of polyurethane systems. This created a range of global polyurethane system brands that helped make brands featuring the Bayer cross synonymous with top quality polyurethanes.
However extensive today’s product range is, new developments call for innovative ideas. Decades of experience and a feel for the needs of our customers are therefore reflected in the BaySystems’ slogan – Customized Polyurethanes.
